So I toured the Japanese Supreme Court on January 21st. Honestly, it's not what I imagined touring a Supreme Court would be like. Obviously there are some major differences in the court system of Japan, and that actually had the biggest effect on my tour. For example, the SC is closed to the public. We were honorary guests - some of the few people on Earth ever to see the inside of the place. Consequently, we were only able to take pictures in certain areas and at certain times.
One other point of interest: Unlike the U.S. Supreme Court, which stays very busy hearing cases and making decisions, few cases ever reach the highest court in Japan. As a result (and an unusual observation), their facilities (constructed in the 1970s) have never been updated, and still appear in mint condition.
Other than that, there's way more interesting things to talk about on this blog than legal stuff...I mean, am I in law school or something?
